At VINCO we are committed to supplying quality materials to meet the needs of our customers. For this reason, within our wide variety of low carbon steel strips we have available the electrozinc plated strips. These have a zinc layer that is applied by means of electric current and protects the steel against corrosion.
The three chemical compositions you can find in our catalog refer to three different steel grades, but all of them have electrolytic coating (ZE). The DCO1+ZE is a drawing grade strip; the DC03+ZE with deep drawing grade has a drawing quality and the DC04+ZE with extra deep drawing grade has a special drawing quality. Although each has unique compositions, all three are governed by EN10152, which refers to cold-rolled, electrolytically zinc-coated flat steel products for cold forming.
The density of electrogalvanized strapping is 7.85 kg/dm3 regardless of the format in which it is supplied: strapped by arrangement or by material; spooled with wooden reel or on cardboard core; in Helycoil format or palletized with square pallet, custom-made round pallet or europallet.
When determining the finish for electrogalvanized strips, three characteristics must be taken into account: the surface appearance that the material is to be given in order to then apply the specific treatment together with a specific coating. Regarding the surface appearance, class A allows certain defects and changes that do not affect the forming and adhesion of other surface coatings. Class B surface appearance, on the other hand, focuses on preserving one side without any imperfections that may impair the uniform appearance.
In the "Finishes" section of the product data sheet you will find details of the symbolic classification and the meaning of the surface treatment - subject to the EN 10152 Standard - as well as the varieties of electrolytic zinc coating available in our catalog.

SURFACE APPEARANCE
Surface appearance | Description |
A | Some defects are allowed such as pores, slight indentations, small marks, minor scratches and slight discolouration that do not affect the formability or adhesion of subsequent surface coatings. |
B | The best side should have no imperfections that could potentially jeopardise the even appearance of a high-quality paint finish. If only one side is coated, this requirement will be applicable to the uncoated side, unless otherwise agreed. The other side must at least meet the requirements of the side with appearance A. |
